Welcome to the Chesterfield Township
Department of Leisure Services
Recreation services for all ages are combined under one umbrella with one common goal of providing more efficient services to the community we serve. Parks, Recreation, and Seniors are three separate operations, however we use shared resources to bring Chesterfield Township exceptional activities, programs, and places to play! Leisure Services are designed to provide the physical, mental, cultural, and social needs of residents and guests. It is our goal to provide a multitude of activities that are affordable, stimulating and comprehensive, and that enhance the quality of life through recreation, enrichment, fitness, athletics, cultural arts, conservation, preservation, and general open space use. It is our mission to accomplish this in a safe, enjoyable, and aesthetically enriching environment for all ages with outstanding service. Brandenburg Park Update
Among the largest capital improvement to impact this venue will be the shoreline restoration project. It will be a beacon of pride along Anchor Bay supported by the Township Board and grant agencies! The currently eroding shore will be softened (not for swimming), but rather for the restoration of native habitats. Along our community’s natural coast, species of plants and fish will once again thrive and make their homes in the healthy waters of Lake St. Clair. There will be diverse educational opportunities and lucrative fishing for the sportsmen among us. The building, centrally located within the park, will be gutted to provide more interior space and functionality for party rentals and programs. The sports courts will see a surfacing overhaul in both basketball and tennis areas with logistical changes that will include the addition of pickleball courts.
For the safety of park goers, the northeast quadrant of the park will be primarily inaccessible. Additionally, the main walking paths leading to the pier, building and courts will also see temporary closures. We anticipate the parking lot to remain unaffected; boaters will be able to launch with ease, the ever-popular nautical Splash Pad will remain in operation (weather permitting from Memorial to Labor Day, 11AM-7PM), our ADA accessible playground will be available for child play, the volleyball court and both Pavilions A & B will remain available to rent.
No reservations will be taken for rental dates prior to May 23, 2020. Pavilion A and Pavilion B will be available to rent in the 2020 season.
In 2020, due to planned construction, Brandenburg Park offers two open-air pavilions for rent. Pollard Park offers five baseball diamonds and four full-size soccer fields. All reservations must be completed in person. Completed rental contract, rental agreement, and payment are required to hold a reservation.
Brandenburg Park Booth opens Wednesday, May 20th. Splash Pad opens Friday, May 22nd. Park closed September 7th for the season.
